  3. Can I play penny slot machines for free online?
  4. Which online casino should I choose to play penny slots?

Can I win at penny slots?
Yes, people win everyday playing penny slots. However, like other casino games the odds are always in favor of the casino. Therefore, you shouldn’t plan on winning at slots in the long run. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play penny slots though. Even though statistically, players who play slot machines long enough will lose, in the short term players can (and do) hit jackpots and huge bonuses.

You also get rewarded by the casino (land-based and online) for playing penny slots. You should always take advantage of benefits like free slots money, hotel stays, and VIP programs. These will help you regain much of the edge the house has.

Penny slots are a relatively inexpensive form of entertainment. So, if you enjoy them, keep playing. If you leave the casino a winner, all the better.

Hardcore gamblers looking for an edge should learn games like blackjack, craps, and poker.

How much can you win on penny slots?
How much you win on penny slot machines depends a lot on things like, the machine you’re playing, the number of lines you’re playing per spin, and any bonus features or jackpots the machine has.

The best penny slots strategy is to play the maximum lines available, which increases your hit frequency. Betting just one cent per line, you’re not likely to hit any huge wins. Jackpots and bonus rounds pay in multiples of your bet, so a 10,000 coin jackpot will pay just $100 for a penny per line bet.

On the other hand, you’re losing less per spin than say a $0.25 machine where you have to play 3 coins ($0.75) for the jackpot.

The one exception I’ve found are the online penny slots with random progressive jackpots at RTG casinos like Cherry Red Casino, Slots Oasis, and Rushmore Casino. These jackpots are thousands of dollars and are awarded at random to players regardless of the per-line bet! That means you can play penny slots with bonus rounds, free spins, and have a chance at a large jackpot for just $0.20 per spin.

Which penny slots have the best payback / payout percentage?
A common mistake players make is confusing payback with frequency or hitrate. Payback is the overall percentage that a machine will return to a player over the long run. Since casinos (online and land-based) don’t make that information public, there’s no way to determine a penny slot machine’s (or other slot’s) payback percentage. Frequency (or hitrate) is a percentage of spins it takes for a machine to return something to a player.

Generally, larger denomination machines with a single line give players larger wins, but have a smaller hitrate. With penny slots, the more lines you play, the higher your frequency of wins will be.

What’s the timing for payoff on penny slots?
While there’s no way to time the payoff on any slot machine, penny slots tend to payoff more frequently than traditional three reel slots. To increase your odds of winning you should make it a point to play the maximum number of lines available.

Which penny slot is best to play?
Depending on who you ask, you’re likely to get any number of responses to the question “which penny slot is the best?”. I enjoy most IGT penny slots such as Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, Ebay, Penny Megabucks, Cleopatra, and others.

At online casinos, I love the Reel Series penny slot machines at Cherry Red Casino. Mainly because of the random progressive jackpots that anyone can win (no matter how much you bet). But also because they have great graphics, an autoplay feature, and are a lot of fun all-the-way around.

What is the most money ever won on penny slots?
In February of 2007 a Nevada man won $18,799,414 playing Penny Megabucks at the Pahrump Nugget. Two years later, this remains the most money ever won on a penny slot machine.

Are online penny slots safe?
For the most part online penny slots are safe, yes. It all depends on where you choose to play. That’s why it’s so important to research before signing up at the first online casino you find. I created this site to be a trusted resource for penny slots players. I will never send you to a casino that I haven’t reviewed and verified personally.

Are online penny slot machines as good as live ones?
Actually, they are better! Here are a couple of reasons why online slots are better than live ones.

1. Since online casinos don’t have the same costs as live casinos, they offer better payback percentages to the players
2. Because of all the competition online casinos face, they offer great deposit bonuses for slot players
3. You can play in your pajamas (without getting funny looks)

Can I play penny slot machine for free online?
Sure, you can! All of the best online casinos give you the option to play their games for free before you make a deposit. This is actually another reason why online penny slots are better than live ones. Where else can you try a penny slot machine before you put money in?

Which online casino should I choose to play penny slots?
I’ll start by saying my personal favorite place to play penny slots online is Cherry Red Casino. They have great service, nice graphics, and a killer deposit bonus of 400% up to $2,400 to play penny slots with. On the other hand, a lot of the answer to that question depends on what you value most as a player.

Do you want great looking software, the largest sign up bonus, or the best customer support? I have tried to find US friendly online casinos that have all 3 of these qualities. So you should feel very comfortable playing at any online casino that you find at PennySlotsOnline.net.

How to Play Penny Slots

Filed under: Penny Slots Guide — Iloveslots @ 7:02 pm

Multi-line penny slots may look complicated, but they are really very simple to learn. The key to learning how to play penny slot machines, is to have a basic understanding of paylines, betting, and bonus features.

How paylines work

Paylines are various lines where symbols must be matched to win. Penny slots generally have several reels and between 9 and 50+ paylines. Playing more paylines gives you a better chance of winning, but it also costs more. For example, if you’re on a 20 line slot machine, betting .01 per line would cost $.20 per spin. While it’s possible to hit the bonus or other winning combination on just one line, I recommend playing the maximum paylines available.

How betting works

As previously mentioned, the optimal penny slots strategy is to bet all the paylines available to increase your hit rate. However, you should be very careful how much you bet per line. A lot of video slots have coin values that go from $.01 to $5.00. Things can get extremely expensive if you start betting more than $.01 per line.

Let’s say you’re on a 20 line machine betting all 20 lines. Consider how increasing your bet per line impacts your total bet.
.01 per line = .20 per spin
.05 per line = 1.00 per spin
.25 per line = 5.00 per spin
1.00 per line = 20.00 per spin
5.00 per line = 100.00 per spin

So, be careful not to hit max bet on all lines or you’ll be wondering where your money went!

Understanding bonus features

Bonus features are what make penny slot machines so popular. Not only do they give you a way to rack up free cash, they are usually very entertaining as well.

Penny slot bonus features can be separated into two groups – “On Reel Bonuses” and “Off Reel Bonuses”.

On Reel Bonuses occur on the normal five spinning reels. The most common On Reel Bonuses are free spin features.

Off Reel Bonuses occur on a seperate bonus screen. Popular Off Reel Bonuses include pick a box and spin the wheel.

To qualify for these different types of bonus features you usually need to hit a certain number of “scatter” symbols anywhere on the machine. To find out about a specific slot machines bonus feature, you can use the Help button on the machine, or search through our penny slot game reviews section.

Learning to play penny slots online

Online penny slots are by far the most convenient, fun, and affordable way to play. All of the best online slots casinos allow you to play free penny slots without depositing. On the other hand,  there are several things you can do to maximize your return-on-investment (ROI) while playing penny slots. In this article, I’ll share valuable tips and advice that will help you win more and have more fun while playing your favorite video slots.

Tips for Beating Penny Slot Machines

Take advantage of slot clubs and online casino slot bonuses
Casinos offer slot players some great bonuses. Taking advantage of slot bonuses is the easiest way to gain an edge on the casino. This is the best part of being a penny slot player. Land-based casinos reward slot players handsomely with free rooms, meals, slot play, invitational slot tournaments, and more. Online casinos reward players with deposit bonuses, monthly reload bonuses, and cash back programs.

To get involved in a land-based casino’s rewards program, simply go to that casino’s players club and sign up for a player’s card. Make sure to use your card EVERY time you play penny slots or other casino games.

For those of you who like to play online penny slots, you can take advantage of a number of great free slot play offers.

Rushmore Casino has a huge bonus exclusively for slot players. When you deposit between $30-$500 they give you a 400% match. That means you get an instant bonus of $120-$2000 to play slots with!

To claim this bonus, sign up for a Rushmore Casino account and use the special code SLOTS400 in the Redeem Coupon section of the cashier when you make your first deposit.

VIP Slots has a neat bonus that gives you 100% up to $259 on your first three deposits (total bonus of $777).

And for those players who like no deposit bonuses, Sloto Cash has a deal where new players get $7 absolute free to play slots. Later, when you decide to deposit, they offer 100% up to $100 on your first deposit, 50% up to $200 on your second, and 25% up to $270 on your third.

Manage your money wisely
Always decide in advance how much money you are willing wager in a given session. While it feels bad to walk away with a loss, it’s even worse to continue playing in order to “get even”. Also, you should always gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Look for penny slots with the highest payouts
In land-based casinos you should look for signs that advertise a high payout percentage. Some penny slots in Las Vegas may sometimes advertise up to 99% payback.

For online penny slots, you can usually find the penny slot machines’ payout by clicking the Help (?) button.

Understand the machine you’re playing
Bonus penny slots are a lot of fun, but you want to be sure you read the rules first. Some slots may require that you play the max bet to qualify for the bonus or progressive jackpot. Most penny slots however, allow you to play bonus rounds by betting as little as 1 coin per line.

Play all lines available
More lines means a higher hit rate. Playing all lines doesn’t change the payout percentage of the machine, but it does give you more frequent wins. This increases the fun of playing, plus gives you a chance for a big win in the bonus round. Be careful about the number of coins you bet per line though, as it can get expensive fast.

On a 20-line machine where you’re playing all lines,

  • 1 coin per line = $.20 per spin
  • 5 coins per line = $1.00 per spin
  • 10 coins per line = $2.00 per spin

As you can see, playing the max bet can get quite expensive.

If you’re winning increase your bet – if you’re losing decrease it
This may sound obvious, but a lot of people will increase their bet when losing in order to try and hit a big win. Instead, base your bets on your how much you’re winning and your comfort level. For instance, if you start with $20, play the max lines with 1 coin per line. If you get that up to $50 plus, move up to 2 coins per line. If you get to $100, move up again, or if you go down to $30 or so, move down. This increases the amount you might win, increases the excitement, and limits your amount of risk.

Don’t waste your time at a cold machine
While there is no way to predict when a machine will pay off, it’s frustrating to spend all your time on a machine that’s not hitting anything. Whether online or at a live casino, changing machines will help you feel more in control and have more fun.

Common Myths About Penny Slots

Filed under: Penny Slots Guide — Iloveslots @ 11:00 pm

Before we start listing all the best online casinos with penny slots, we thought it was important to debunk a few popular myths surrounding penny slot machines. That way, you can feel confident about playing penny slots and having a good time.

MYTH: This is my lucky penny slot machine!
TRUTH: While it would be nice to truly have a lucky penny slot machine, nothing could be further from reality. The fact is, all penny slot machines use random number generators (even online ones). That means they are all equal. I realize we still like to believe in some magical force to deliver us big wins, and if that makes slots more exciting to you, go for it! Just know that there is no formula to picking a winning penny slot machine.

MYTH: After a penny slot machine hits a jackpot, it has to tighten up to even out. Or on the flip side, when a jackpot hasn’t been hit for a long time, the machine is “due” to pay off.
TRUTH: This is a really popular myth. I cringe every time I hear someone say “I saw someone just hit $x,xxx on that machine, it won’t pay off now. The casino has to make their money back” Again, slots run off random number generators. Yes, they are set to pay off a percentage, but that’s over a long period of time. In other words, if a penny slot machine hits the jackpot, you have the same chance of hitting another jackpot on the next spin, as you did before the jackpot hit. Also, just because someone played a penny slot machine for a long time and didn’t win, doesn’t make it more likely to pay off if you play it.

MYTH: I got up from a machine and the jackpot hit. If I would have played a little longer it would have been mine.
TRUTH: The random number generators on slot machines are constantly calculating thousands of combinations that represent which spots a spin will land on. As soon as you hit the SPIN button the RNG calculates what combination the machine will land on. That means, for you to have hit the jackpot on that machine, you would have had to hit SPIN at the exact same time as the other person did. This is highly unlikely, so you shouldn’t feel bad.

MYTH: Online casino penny slots pay less than live casinos
TRUTH: This is a biggie! Online casino penny slots actually pay MORE than live casinos! Due to the popularity of online gaming and less overhead (no light bills, buffets, etc), online casinos with penny slots can afford to give away more money. Most brick and mortar live casinos pay back between 90-93% while online casinos pay back around 95-97%.

Penny Slot Machine Myths Summary

Remember, all penny slots are created equal. At least for the most part. Since slot machines use random number generators, your chances of winning are the same, regardless of whether a machine has recently been hit or not. Don’t depend on a magic formula or superstition to pick a penny slot machine. Instead, use available resources to find the best places to play penny slots. For example, the fact that online penny slots have a higher payback percentage, plus great deposit bonuses, makes them an excellent way to win more at slots. As always, you can turn to PennySlotsDirectory for all the information you need about playing penny slots at online casinos.
